Indian Society of Renal and Transplantation Pathology (ISRTP) was formed during the “International CME on Renal Pathology” held from 14th – 16th March 2005 at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow India.
The main objective of the society is to promote research, education and training in renal & transplantation pathology and allied subjects and also to collaborate and cooperate with other organizations of similar interest, inside and outside the country, for delivery of improved health care for patients suffering from diseases of native kidneys and renal allografts.
Dear friends,
Greetings from Chandigarh!
It gives me immense pleasure as the president of Indian Society of Renal and Transplant Pathology to share with you my dreams for our society.
First and foremost as responsibility towards our society I shall encourage to make Nephropathology services available to most of the patients with kidney diseases. To achieve this many of us are already creating pool of trained personnel for our country by imparting post doctoral certificate courses and DM/Fellowships in renal and transplant pathology. I request other potential teachers to start such fellowships in their institutes/colleges/hospitals. We will make telepathology services available for further enhancing accessibility after sorting out the legalities.
To make younger generations interested in renal pathology we have initiated ISRTP post graduate outreach program under able guidance of Prof. Swaranlata, Hyderabad and Prof. Geetika, New Delhi. Once they realize importance of this super speciality and find it doable, we expect interest in the subject will drive younger minds to pursue this as a career option.
We are in process of making SIGs(Special Interest Groups) to pursue clinical conditions which need special inputs for making facilities available to most patients and have centralized services available in one particular centre. Different centres can take up responsibility depending upon expertise available in their hospital. We need to make special laboratories accessible to everyone which provides special tests for tropical diseases, amyloidosis ,complement investigations etc.
Keeping in view the with the emerging trends in the way medicine will be practiced in the next decade, the ISRTP is committed to contributing to the global knowledge by exploring our tropical and regional diseases and their trends. Our representatives in different societies-national and international can highlight our strength in term of tropical diseases and difference in disease trends when compared with globally.
We need to expand our research capacity especially in areas which has clinical translational value. This can be academically and conceptually supported by Special interest groups. We have our local problems and we have to find local solutions for them. We need to develop our national normograms based on our population e.g. basement membrane thickening, various complement and their regulator levels, genetic alterations etc. There can be ethnicity differences and regional environmental factors.
With our aim to build capacity with renal pathology diagnosticians via education ,trainings and regional research, we aim to be the important part of string of health care professionals involved in management of patients with kidney diseases.
I believe we are capable of best clinical and research work directed towards our ultimate mission of providing renal diagnostics available to all who need it.
Lets collectively work towards these goals…
Warm regards
Ritambhra Nada
